2026 Changes: Growth & Creativity
When Bloom Brats began, we were working from the spare space in my apartment. I maintained a full-time job, while slowly developing a meaningful and solid groundwork for this design studio. Two years ago, I found that we had rapidly grown out of this “home studio”. Larger jobs required more space for flowers, rentals, and supplies. We quickly found a new home for our flower studio in Fremont. This space has brought us the stability we needed to provide florals for many incredible weddings.
As we step into our fourth year providing florals for weddings & events, we have created a great sense of stability in this industry. We want to rock our own boat and work on scaling up, again. I said goodbye to my full-time job, and recruited a group of experienced designers to join on design and event days. Bloom Brats Botanical has now evolved to be larger than myself. Constantly reaching for bigger and better is a part of who I am, and I carry that into my design and business process.
Floral design is my art medium. I dream of creating large-scale installations for themed events, weddings with a heavy floral influence, and designs rooted in color theory & artistic elements. I want to create floral architecture, living sculptures, and things that leave viewers in awe. I look forward to creating installations that ARE the centerpiece & theme to gatherings. I know there is nothing that I can not design, if given the opportunity to do so.
As I shift my focus towards large scale productions, this has altered our logistics. Large scale design requires more stems, more time, and more labor.
Although in the past, we have been grateful to provide florals for most budgets, this is no longer sustainable for us. Our minimum prices have raised to ensure that we can create designs that represent our artistic design without compromise. Creating a vision without being overly focused on the bottom line leads to better work- and we want to bring this energy to everything we do. Finding clients who align with this mission is our goal here.
One of the many changes we want to focus on for 2026 is continuing to use more local, unique, and sustainable blooms. I have always been a “sustainability girl” in every way that makes sense for me. I go the extra mile to be green & reduce my carbon footprint- while also rationalizing that some choices don’t make logistical sense. that It’s no secret that many florists use imported blooms. There are arguments on all sides of this conversation that I can empathize with. Since I own my own business and get to call the shots- I will always be making an effort to use more and more local blooms. I want to support my local economy as much as possible. Local blooms are often more unique- which is another driving factor to this decision. Walking through the products my local farmers provide ramps up my creative ideas to a new level. I want to tap into this as much as possible.
This does not mean we won’t import florals where we see fit. Not every flower can be grown in the Pacific Northwest- and I don’t want to fully limit floral selection to whats locally available. I don’t mind supporting businesses across boarders. All farmers are friends, to me. The hesitation really lies in my carbon impact- but we will jump into that topic on a different date.
Another change we will be focusing on is saying no to cookie-cutter, traditional floral rules. It’s just not fun! We have been in a place of designing both unique and traditional designs for the past few years, but we want to turn a corner and really push the bounds of creativity. Creating designs where rules are manipulated and colors are played with speaks to me so much more as an artist. Statement pieces, unique shapes, and daring combinations are the key players in creating an atmosphere with florals.
We hope you continue to join us in the evolution of Bloom Brats Botanical. We love nothing more than creating floral work for you.
